From the rhythmic, percussive "Falling Into Different Flesh" to the restless, edgy "Birth: Fiendish Figuration" to the echoing "Penance & Pain," Sopor Aeternus gives goth fans more of what they're looking for on Ich Tote Mich.... On their website, they describe their lyrics as being about "pain, depression, and the desperate search for the sacred reunion." Certainly that permeates this release. "Baptisma" and "Feast of Blood" feature raspy, tremulous vocals, while eerie keyboards accompany "Dark Delight," and "Tanz der Grausamkeit" features sonorous, almost Gregorian chanting. Since this band does not perform live, fans will need the album to experience their performances. Recommended for goths who like a medieval tone.
