As might be expected of a disc entitled Passport to the Heart, much of the music herein is mellow and romantic in nature. But Linsky is gifted and smart enough that it seldom descends into sloppy sentimentality, nor is it sleep-inducing. The covers are interesting, ranging from a swinging version of Al Jarreau's &Mornin' & to Chaka Khan's &Through the Fire& and Stevie Wonder's &Summer Soft.& But it's on his original compositions that Linsky is most expressive. If it doesn't offer some of the highlights of some of his earlier efforts, such as California, it is more consistent throughout.
