When Armik was 7 years old, he became so enamored with the classical guitar that he pawned his watch to buy one. His foresightedness has been rewarded as Armik has become one of the finest flamenco guitarists in the world.
Like a painter working with a vast palette of colors, Armik has created a rich tapestry of musical images in “Rain Dancer”. All of the songs are written by Armik with the exception of “Concierto de Aranjuez” and his interpretation of “Entre Dos Aguas” which was recorded as a tribute to Paco de Lucia, the legendary Spanish flamenco guitarist.
Armik has drawn much of his inspiration for this album from the beauty and warmth of the Caribbean where he has often visited. Latin rhythms play a strong role in his music – a style which has become so recognizable to his fans that they have created a whole new music category to describe it – latin-gypsy jazz. “Rain Dancer” is a collection of songs with bottomless passion and brilliant artistry which transcends many musical categories.
