On 1998's Trust, John Boswell returns to his roots as a solo pianist. Pieces like &I'll Carry You Through& add touches of cello and synth, but the focus is on Boswell's emotive playing throughout. Trust begins with structured works like the optimistic &Take My Hand& and characteristically romantic &From the Heart.& As the album progresses, however, Boswell's pieces become more open and improvised, from the contemplative &Heart Full of Rain& and &Leaf Dream& to the airy &Angel in the Ice.& Trust reflects nature and emotions through John Boswell's increasingly rich and refined compositional skills.
