Like any of the Bob Carlisle discs to follow in the wake of &Butterfly Kisses,& Butterfly Kisses & Bedtime Prayers is a collection tied together by a vague theme linked to the hit single. This time, the album is comprised of newly recorded lullabies and children's prayers, which are all narrated by children. Butterfly Kisses & Bedtime Prayers is designed to help children learn how to pray, and it succeeds to a certain extent (although it would seem that children would be better off learning to pray from their parents, not a record). Nevertheless, the album is a rousing success on one level -- it provides a nice, soothing collection of glossy soft-pop songs with a religious undercurrent that will provide nice background music for sleeping children.
