Luther Ingram earned his biggest R&B and pop hit with the title track, one of the last hurrahs for gospel-tinged and country-flavored confessional soul. The song would later become a country hit for Barbara Mandrell. Ingram landed one other Top Ten R&B single with &I'll Be Your Shelter (In Time of Storm),& and the album contained some other earnest soul ballads that weren't hits in &I Can't Stop& and &Help Me Love.& Ingram never again enjoyed similar crossover heights, and the tide was turning against deep soul in both pop and R&B camps.
