Acrimony refined its special recipe of doomy stoner metal for its second full-length release, 1996's Tumuli Shroomaroom. Considering that four of these songs clock in at just over or under ten minutes, listeners should be prepared to commit repeated listens before the record sinks in, but the effort is well worth it. While &Firedance& chugs along for 13 minutes in mesmerizing fashion, &Turn the Page,& with its delicate, interweaving acoustic guitars, lasts less than two. The award for best song title must go to the hilariously emphatic &Motherslug (The Mother of All Slugs),& and it's a fine tune to boot. &Million Year Summer& is undoubtedly the album's pinnacle, though, condensing Acrimony's best elements into four minutes of stoner brilliance.
