Before gaining his reputation as a hotshot Nashville producer in the '70s, Jimmy Bowen had a short-lived career as a rockabilly/pop singer who managed to make the charts in 1957 with the Sun Studio sound-alike "I'm Stickin' with You." Unfortunately, that's the only gem found on this budget-priced collection. The remaining nine tracks include a few mediocre cover versions ("Blue Moon," "Money Honey," "By the Light of the Silvery Moon") and lackluster originals that fail to capture the fiery passion rockabilly fans listen for. For those interested, The Best of Jimmy Bowen, also on Collectables, is the preferable compilation as it includes two extra tracks and omits the majority of the cover versions.
