Carol Douglas' soft, reedy vocals haven't impressed everyone, but she could sing disco floaters á la "Midnight Love Affair," as well as anyone with her cute sexy voice. Her vocal shortcomings, however, become painfully obvious on uptempo numbers. She just didn't have the power of a Gloria Gaynor or a Donna Summer to deliver on "Headline News" and similar disco boogies. Douglas was more at-home singing European-style disco (side one) than the rougher, more demanding U.S. disco (side two).
