Formerly a member of the band Oxygiene 23, Jane Jensen released her solo debut, Comic Book Whore, on Flip Records in 1996. Craig Krafton who also co-wrote the songs and played guitar, percussion and added samples produced the album by the sometime actress (&Tromeo & Juliet&). Jensen, herself, also played guitar and contributed sampling as well. Jensen's vocal ability is somewhat limited, but she has a quirky, girlish quality that plays well with the eccentric lyrics of songs like &Luv Song,& a mash note listing her needs in a lover delivered in an alley cat howl. The music is melodic and insistent. The single &More Than I Can& is dense and hypnotic with an industrial feel to it. &King& is a propulsive, charging track that would fit well on a Garbage album and &Highway 90& is a road song full of bravado. There's not shortage of hooks that sink deep but, once she has your attention, she doesn't have all that much to say. No worries. Turn off your brain and enjoy the ride.
