Vogel continued his bid for techno auteurism with his second full-length for Mille Plateaux. As with the previous Beginning to Understand, Specific Momentific is grand-style experimental techno awash in oddly arranged, obscurantist synth-tweak. But while much of the album achieves Vogel's best fusion to date of avant-garde noodle and bassbin kick. A few tracks head for beatless territory, with results in a dark ambient/isolationist vein that make for wonderfully varied listening.
