Levert still sounded energetic and appealing on such cuts as &Nobody Does It Better& and &Hey Girl.& Gerald Levert will never have the same command or dramatic presence as his dad, but he's developed into a sincere, effective vocalist. But when the raps begin on the title cut or &Nobody Does It Better,& not only do they mar the song's pace, they split the listener's focus and change the mood. It doesn't help that neither rap was exciting, either lyrically or performance-wise.
