Virtually all of saxophonist Gerald Albright's previous recordings were in the pop/R&B field, making this mostly straight-ahead session a major surprise. Albright, alternating between alto and tenor, plays quite well throughout this set, which is highlighted by versions of &Impressions,& &Georgia on My Mind,& and &Limehouse Blues.& Tenorman Kirk Whalum helps out on three tracks, and Eddie Harris makes a guest appearance on &Bubblehead McDaddy.& This is easily Gerald Albright's most rewarding session to date.
