DJ Icey has been a top breakbeat DJ for so long, it's a bit of a surprise that his own full-length reveals that he's got some great productions up his sleeve. Though Generate includes predictable nods to electro (&Ease the Beat Back Up&) and big-beat (&Can't Stop This Track&), each are well done and lead to other interesting tracks, like the straight-ahead acid-techno of &Take the Time& and even beatless leanings on &The Air Is Full of Sound.& It's not quite up to the quality of Chemical Brothers/Prodigy territory, but Generate is a solid album.
