Experimental techno producers aren't known for their collaborative faculties, and this record -- a joint production of Stewart Walker and Geoff White -- isn't much different. Instead of remix by e-mail or a true, live studio collaboration, Discord alternates Walker and White productions, the LP presenting individual tracks while the CD is a continuous mix. Musical methods aside, Walker and White are tremendously effective at creating smooth, point-perfect techno with great ideas sprayed out as if they had hundreds to spare. They also complement each other well, with Walker's angular investigations providing a foil for White's mechanically melodic productions, especially indebted to the classic techno-dub of Basic Channel and Maurizio.
