For a debut album, Stop Draggin' Me Down delivers most of the powerful guitar-driven garage-rock that later Mono Men albums would have, but lacks some of the later catchy, impassioned pop vocals. Without the pop constraints, lead vocalist Dave Crider is a bit too grating, and in fact, most of the album suffers from a lack of bright spots. Garage-rock should never be too bright and happy, but without much pop sensibility, it fails to excite.
