One of Dave Frishberg's finest albums (and a set that gained him a great deal of recognition), this album can be easily split into two. Frishberg performs six enjoyable unaccompanied piano solos (including &In a Mist,& &King Porter Stomp& and the title cut) and sings six other numbers with a quintet also including trumpeter Bob Findley, altoist Marshall Royal, bassist Larry Gales and drummer Steve Schaeffer. Of the latter, his &Dear Bix& (taken in duet with Findley) is a classic, while &Lotus Blossom& and &Old Man Harlem& are also quite memorable. Highly recommended.
