Fellow Doncasterians Jeremy Clarkson and Louis Tomlinson may probably not be fans of their music, and their output has likely failed to ever make the pre-match playlist at The Keepmoat Stadium, but the mighty 93MillionMilesFromTheSun have been releasing shimmering, frazzled space rock since 2008, a time when such a spectacular blast of noise infused mayhem did provide at least this listener with a much needed antidote to the seemingly all-pervading colourless indie jangle being drip-fed into my consciousness.

In the seven years since their debut, the musical landscape described above has changed significantly, with literally hundreds of bands now experimenting with reverb, delay, distortion and other effects, and welcoming the “Shoegaze” moniker with open arms, where its originators (in the main) had tried so hard to distance themselves from it. A good time for 93MMFTS to return, then.

As a forerunner to their upcoming fourth album Fall Into Nothing, Nick ‘Mainline’ Noble, (Guitar, Vox, Effects), Rob ‘Kenno’ Hogg (Bass, Effects) and Jase ‘No Advertised Nickname’ Burns (Drums) treat us to a taste of what’s to come with the 4 track EP Watch Her Fall. It is their first release of all new material since 2012’s long-player Towards the Light, and the band, yet again, deliver a showcase of glorious, melodic, droning Shoegaze, as is their way. Think early Boo Radleys (of re-recorded Kaleidoscope vintage, to be precise) covering Loop’s denser, rockier moments and you may be some way there. Alternatively, give the Bandcamp player below a good listen. That is why it is there, after all.
