Bottom line, Vektor is not like any other thrash band America has to offer today. Despite having a logo that is a slight rip off Voivod’s classic, these guys wail on their latest Black Future, which combines the speed and ferocity of Wehrmacht with the monotone trudging of Teutonic Thrash. Black Future offers so much more than the Bay Area crossover inspired, or the blackened variety of thrash that seems to be the hip thing in America today. Vektor is not run of the mill, this is ground breaking, this is high velocity Germanic styled thrash, and it’s pretty fucking good.
Black Future on upstart (yet awesome) label Heavy Artillery, was released last year, but I have just had the good fortune of finally discovering it, thus, I am now writing about this album that has brought something new and intriguing to my personal repertoire of thrash. Without getting too political, these Arizonians bring a silver lining to an otherwise dark cloud that is seeemingly hoving over their state indefinitely. Three cheers for Vektor!
