A transitional album by Lester Bowie's Brass Fantasy, this Japanese CD finds the tentet (four trumpets, two trombones, French horn, tuba, drums and percussion) performing three jazz pieces by the group's former trumpeter Bruce Purse plus eccentric interpretations of &My Way,& &Honky Tonk& and James Brown's &I Got You.& With such top players as trombonists Steve Turre and Frank Lacy (who sings &I Got You& as best he can) and trumpeter E.J. Allen having solo space along with the distorted sounds of the leader/trumpeter, this set certainly has its interesting moments, although it is a bit erratic.
