Love in the Time of Scurvy, the debut from Texas-based Kid Chaos, is standard pop-punk. The feisty horn section enables the band to tread on ska, evident in the pop-culture poke of "Jerry Seinfeld," but it generally serves to give the seven-piece band a fuller sound. Averaging only two minutes each, the tracks fly by as quickly as the thrashing guitars and the pummeling percussion. Kid Chaos has more angst than Kid Rock, but its intentions are just as youthful.
