On this popish/r&b jazz date, Tim Cunningham (heard on alto and soprano) shows off some impressive playing chops along with the influence of Grover Washington, Jr., but he is heard primarily in rather commercial settings. While the solos are generally good, the tunes are mundane, the rhythms sound like they are set on automatic pilot, the background vocals are rather insipid and the overall effect is forgettable. Cunningham is capable of better but this program was clearly designed with the hope of getting radio airplay, and it is quite dated.
