专辑介绍

by Daniel Gioffre

"It's been a lifetime mean from drinkin'/Cheatin' and shankin' man dead," sings C.C. Adcock on "Couchemal," the first track from his debut eponymous album. This line pretty well sums up this record, with its Louisiana swamp blues grooves and gritty lyrics. Any record that has a song called "Kissin' Kouzans" on it (a lovely ode to small-town intermarriage) is liable to have a distinctive vibe to it, and C.C. Adcock does not disappoint. In addition to having a great drawling vocal delivery, Adcock is also a fine guitarist, in a sloppy bayou kind of way. He has included two instrumentals on this record, "Beaux's Bounce" and "Good Lovin'," and both delight and entertain. Roots music enthusiasts will certainly be entertained by the raw guitar tones, primitive drumming, and confidently delivered vocals. The sexuality displayed on this record is somewhere between middle school and five to ten in the county prison, but it's good for drinking beers to, and really is quite captivating when taken on its own terms. Well-executed sleaze, even if the record (although it is not much over a half-hour) feels like it goes on for too long. Dirty in every sense of the word.
