Dik Darnell evinces his deep spiritual nature and respect for earth and nature on Ceremony. Through the careful harmony of traditional instruments, synthesizer, Native American vocals and the sounds of nature, Darnell creates a peaceful, soulful sound that eases stress and engenders calm. Several of the songs on Ceremony were adapted from sacred ceremonial songs of the Lakota Nation. They were altered, however, and the lyrics were omitted out of respect to the sacred rituals.
