The score album is quite a bit better than the song compilation, but the music is still fairly subpar for Elfman. For this film he spends his time in abject worship of both Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams, as well as reworking Lalo Schifrin's original music. Not, perhaps, what we really wanted from the Elf.
