Better Than Life, the third album recorded by Acappella, begins with an unimpressive presentation of the song "How Majestic Is Your Name" by Michael W. Smith. It is a disappointing beginning to the final album involving the original combination of Keith Lancaster and Rodney Britt. The second song, and namesake of the album, has a powerful message, but once again falls short of anything extraordinary in its presentation. The listener may begin to wonder if the entire album is mediocre. There is a strong temptation to skip through the tracks in search of better songs. Thankfully, the better songs do arrive, but not until the end of the album. The last three songs have profound lyrics and an excellent presentation. "Let's Get Together" is the most impressive of them all because of the harmonious singing and poignant words. The song is a heartfelt plea for Christians to put aside their differences and get along. It is a hard-hitting way to end the album. Better Than Life is not one of Acappella's better works. Perhaps this is because it was one of the group's earlier recordings. But for dedicated fans, the album is worth the expense.
