The majority of Burning Skies' members look like your ordinary, average, shorthaired lads. So to discover that they specialize in a head-on collision of death metal and hardcore proves once more that you should never judge a book by its cover. Undoubtedly one of the heaviest metal bands to ever hail from Bristol, England, 2006 saw the release of the quintet's third overall effort, Desolation. The album is best described as a non-stop avalanche of brutal beats, riffs, and hollers from beginning to end, especially on such selections as "The Sweet Sound of Violence," "Desolation...(For the Denial of Ignorance)," and "Could You Sink Any Lower?" As evidenced by Desolation, Burning Skies are undoubtedly one of the most intense metal bands on the scene circa 2006.
