With so much wrong with the world circa the early 21st century, the anger and message of hardcore music perhaps has never rung more true. And there are quite a few chaps that feel the same way, as evidenced by the emergence of new bands that specialize in vintage hardcore sounds -- case in point, Providence, Rhode Island's Verse. Most longtime hardcore admirers may have heard it all before (shouted vocals, guitar riffs blasting away, rapid fire drums, etc.), but the Verse gentlemen certainly pull it off well throughout their 2008 release, ‘Aggression,' as it certainly sounds like it's all coming from the heart -- and not merely a pose. While the genre has mutated into numerous sub-genres over the years, straight ahead/hard hitting hardcore is still very much alive and well, as evidenced throughout ‘Aggression.'
