By 1987, Poncho Sanchez had one of the finest Latin jazz bands around. The 1987 edition consists of trumpeter Sal Cracchiolo, tenor saxophonist Kenny Goldberg, trombonist Art Velasco, longtime pianist Charlie Otwell, bassist Tony Banda and three percussionists, including the leader on congas. Together they perform six group originals, the traditional &Co Co My My,& a Latinized &It Could Happen to You& and Clifford Brown's &Daahoud.& Occasional group vocals, fine jazz horn solos and infectious rhythms combine to make this a particularly strong effort from Poncho Sanchez.
