Santigold今去年被滚石列为十大期待的新人之首。

出生自费城，在纽约布鲁克林发迹的Santogold 本名叫Santi White，爸爸是费城的已故名律师。小时候都念私校的黑人孩子，却选择了玩音乐，但她在滚石访谈却说其实她一开始是不知道要干才玩音乐的，本来是躲在角落被欺负的小孩却因为这样而开始变成风云人物。

Santi white曾经学过古巴、海地跟西非手鼓等。后来在纽约的Epic唱片公司找到一份工作。

在Santigold之前曾经组了一个庞客团Stiffed。Santigold是她跟同是Stiffed的团员朋友John Hill一起搞的二人组合，这首让我令人惊艳的the Creator单曲是改编重组自M.I.A.的专辑来的(难怪听过的都说像)。根据滚石的说法，原来相熟的朋友。

滚石的报导很有趣，用一组方程式形容了Santigold的音乐像是M.I.A.乘上Yeah Yeah Yeahs的Karen O 加上80的synth pop键盘。

Santi说影响她最深的两个艺人是Nina Simone 跟华盛顿DC的硬蕊庞客老团Bad Brains的H.R.，没错，有个性的人都爱坏脑子。首发12吋EPCreator的听说已经在一月中发行，用不到三周的时间完成。她还受到Bjork 的青睐受到邀请作为她巡回演唱的暖场，葛莱美金曲制作人Mark Ronson 找她来替Lily Allen写歌，看似顺利的她其实也未必过的很风光，在BBC的报导中有说到2003年时候她父亲过世并卷入了费城当地贪污事件，还遭到FBI的调查。White对于政府与媒体不当运用权力似乎非常的不以为然。Santogold is the eponymous debut album by alternative American artist Santogold. The album is due for release on 29 April 2008 in the United States, and May 12 in the United Kingdom.
