This is one of the most humorous of the Firehouse Five Plus Two recordings. Gathering together friends and relatives to simulate a party, the Firehouse Five play their usual brand of spirited and exuberant Dixieland. Between songs the crowd (which sounds purposely drunk) shouts out requests and makes a variety of silly remarks about the music and the party itself. The performance is pretty continuous, and the highlights include &Let's Have a Party,& &At the Fireman's Ball,& &Ballin' the Jack,& &Bill Bailey,& &The Saints,& and &I Want a Girl Just Like the Girl Who Married Dear Old Dad.& Trumpeter Danny Alguire, trombonist Ward Kimball, and soprano saxophonist George Probert are among those clearly having a great time.
