Seasoned Veteran was the album to make Richie Rich into a star, but the album just falls short of its mark. Richie Rich is a good rapper, but he's not a great one, which means that the production has to be impeccable for the record to really take hold. Unfortunately, only a handful of songs -- &It's On,& &Let's Ride,& &Real Pimp& and the Tupac Shakur duet &Niggas Done Changed& -- make much of an impression, which leaves Seasoned Veteran a frustrating listen, especially in light of Richie Rich's long and underappreciated legacy in Californian rap.
