Best experienced on DVD -- or not at all, unless you absolutely must collect everything associated with the late MC -- Ol' Dirty Bastard's performance on Free to Be Dirty is shaky at best. In fact, he's often rapping over the full studio versions of his tracks, meaning that you hear his studio and live vocals at the same time. The results aren't pretty (not that you'd expect them to be, but still....). Another warning: the track listing is a rough road map that doesn't always match up with the actual set list. Though the disc provides no information beyond the track listing, it was recorded in October of 2003 at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT. This was during the Dirt McGirt era.
