by Ed Hogan Logg can qualify as the Leroy Burgess album. The bulk of the prolific, inventive singer/songwriter/keyboardist/producer's work is found on hard to find 12" dance singles and long out of print albums. Co-produced by Burgess and Gregory Carmichael , the album is a top notch, energetic showcase for the artist and the crack rhythm section of Burgess , bassist James Calloway , and drummer Sonny Davenport , all of whom co-wrote every track on the album. "I Know You Will," "You've Got That Something" (the first two singles), "Dancing Into the Stars," "Something Else," and "Sweet to Me" instantly became dancefloor classics. Initially issued on Salsoul (RCA) in August, 1981, Logg was reissued on CD by U.K. label Charly Records in July 1999. The extended Larry Levan remix of "I Know You Will" can be found on Salsoul Essentials . As the 21st century began, Burgess was active again with numerous projects (one with Frankie Knuckles ) in the states and overseas.
