Continuing with the theme of alien abduction begun on Abducted, Hypocrisy forge on with a tunnel-visioned relentlessness, remaining far from boring by adding varied tempos and changing their attack from song to song. Choosing favorites is a difficult task, as The Final Chapter is meant to be an album experience. The production by guitarist/vocalist/bandleader Peter Tagtgren is first-rate for a death metal band, featuring an encyclopedia of guitar tones and vocal stylings, solidifying Hypocrisy's reputation as one of the most progressive death metal acts of the '90s. Shortly before the release of this album, Hypocrisy announced that they were breaking up to pursue other side projects.

- @黄色潜水艇(微笑，挥手，再见。)：Peter到1997年已经忙得不可开交，几乎全瑞典的乐队都来找他录音，他发现自己已经不能够再全身心地投入到Hypocrisy的工作中了。于是他们推出了这张名为“The Final Chapter”（大结局）的专辑，并宣布他们即将解散。专辑的歌词中讲述了一个外星生物在人体内驻留并繁殖，最终控制整个人类的恐怖故事。作为乐队的主创人员，Peter平时非常喜欢科幻类书籍和电影，连续两张专辑的题材灵感可能皆源于此。可能是时间仓促，据说他们的所有创作仅用了2个星期。这张专辑既没有早期质朴和冲动，也没有后期的动人旋律化。使用很多无谓的技巧，但是经不起多听，给人一种造作的感觉。
