&Little Milton& Campbell made an excellent modern blues/soul album for MCA in the early '80s that languished due to inaedquate promotional efforts. The failure of Age Ain't Nothin' But a Number convinced Campbell to move to Malaco. Mobile Fidelity's recent remastered CD reissue of this underrated session provides a perfect sonic framework for Milton's taut, tantalizing and nicely executed guitar, soulful, often biting vocals, and solid arrangements and songs. The title cut was a mild hit, one of the last times Milton reached the R&B charts, while other numbers such as &Why Are You So Hard To Please,& &Don't Leave Me,& and &Living On The Dark Side Of Love& were as expertly crafted as any of his best Chess dates.
