The first Green Velvet full-length takes a musical bed formed from Kraftwerk and Gary Numan, electro-funk, and Chicago's mechanistic jacking house craze to frame Cajmere's fascinating vocal concerns -- which range from emotionless intonations to much more emotive yelling. The bizarre song material balances tech-apocalypse (&Save the World,& &Technology's Out of Control&) and paranoid musings on all manner of occurrences related to alien encounters (&Abduction&) and love life (&Thoughts,& &Strange&). Though none of the previous Green Velvet club favorites are reprised for his album, Cajmere has created a raft of future classics, all along the same lines.
