Most volumes in the DJ-Kicks series give well-known producers (say, Carl Craig or CJ Bolland) a chance to stretch out with a mix album. Claude Young, on the other hand, made his name as a DJ and has remained the foremost young mixer on the techno scene. Given that fact, it's hardly a surprise that his DJ-Kicks is one of the best in the series, with a few tracks from Young himself (including &Acid Wash Conflict,& &Joe 90& with Ian O'Brien, and the new track &DJ-Kicks&) plus other producers on the minimalist/experimental tip of techno including Maurizio, Surgeon, Random XS, and Dopplereffekt.
