Not surprisingly for a band that shares their name with a latter-day Foreigner album, Agent Provocateur is a mainstream rock band in the style of late-'80s arena rock. Though they rely on synthesizers a little more than the typical '80s AOR band and Cleo Torez's vocals are a little harsher than normal, Agent Provocateur doesn't change the verse-chorus-verse-solo pattern at all, and they don't execute the predictable changes with much flair. &Agent Dan& does have a couple of glossy hooks that makes it fine radio fodder, but the remainder of the record is hurt by that same slick production, simply because it has the sound but not the hooks.
