This long out-of-print LP gives one a good overview of trombonist Chris Barber's recordings of the mid-'50s. His English trad band had an unexpected hit with their version of Sidney Bechet's &Petite Fleur,& a feature for clarinetist Monty Sunshine. That recording is included on this LP along with hot versions of a variety of well-known (such as &The Saints& and &Sweet Georgia Brown&) and obscure (including &Olga& and &Thriller Rag&) tunes from the 1920s. Pat Halcox's trumpet solos and Ottilie Patterson's vocals are major assets.
