骋驰乐坛30多年的Santana，创作源源不断外，与乐迷始终保持良好的互动，Santana非常清楚自个儿的魅力，Carlos以Jam Session起家，摇滚史上几个重要的音乐季Festival，都少不了Santana的现场莅临，最受瞩目的是1969年超过50万人次的Woodstock，以及后来在达拉斯举办该年第三大的Texas International Pop Festival，1973年Rolling Stone定期访美巡回表演，亦邀请Santana助兴，1978年在第二届California Jam贵为上宾，1982年的音乐盛事US Festival ，盛邀几个重量级的乐团参与，Santana想当然尔的在应邀之列，1985年7月为援非而在英美同步举办超大型的Live Aid， 1991年远赴巴西参加年度盛会Rock Rio II，以及91年为追悼BillGraham所举办的35万人音乐会，都少不了Santana的身影，Santana在国际乐坛所受到的瞩目，让不同国度的乐迷都引颈期盼，恭迎其盛。
80年代初，World Music与New Age业已风行全球时，Carlos Santana亦不落人后的与时并进，在《Marathon》中浅尝一下New Age，完成了Aqua Marine，在《Zebop!》中又拾回以往的拉丁雄风，American Gypsy、Primera Invasion似乎回到70年代剽悍的气势，另外改编了Cat Stevens的Changes亦风味独特，倒是唱自Russ Ballard的创作Winning市场反应不错，10年来仅见的TOP 20。
Santana重拾对市场的信心，82年《Shango》的口味又添加了Afro-Cuban，Hold On及Nowhere To Run再度挤进排行榜。久未合作的昔日征战伙伴Gregg Rolie难得回老东家共谱了三首歌曲，气份颇佳，Gregg当时虽然已经离开一手创立的Journey，但是他并没有重回Santana的打算。
1983年的Carlos的第6张个人专辑《Havana Moon》更集结了Booker T & The MG's、Willie Nelson、Fabulous Thunderbirds等多位艺人助阵，比起自己的乐团搞的还要大，Carlos对音乐的玩趣未曾衰减。
1987年Santana的专辑名为《Freedom》，那是因为Carlos又再找回过去多位旗下乐友，共同完成了这张大碟，情谊大于音乐本质，市场销售仍然不见起色。
积蓄了一段长时间的能量之后，Santana于1999年再度出击推出《Supernatural》，与其合作的不是他人，正是与Carlos签下第一纸合约的Clive Davis，后来Clive成为哥伦比亚唱片的老板，当Clive转移阵地自组J. Records之后，仍不忘老友Carlos，两人首次共同制作唱片，没想到鱼帮水、水帮鱼，三十年后Santana的事业再创前所未有的高峰，Carlos Santana这么多年来，即使是低潮，也从未离开音乐，唱了30几年，乐音不断、节奏倒是越来乐猛，视野也愈加宽阔，不论拉丁乐，或纯摇滚，表现的依然亮丽，《Shaman》的精湛演出，有目共睹。当然Carlos有此成就并非凭空得来，没有过去的用心，就不会有目前的成就，Sony Columbia如今推出Santana的音乐史辑，与歌迷共享Santana的音乐生命，我们共同期待Carlos Santana的音乐乐章可长、可久、可远。
Beyond Appearances is the thirteenth studio album by Santana, released in 1985 (see 1985 in music).
The album took seven months to make, and (apart from Carlos Santana himself) involved a completely different line-up from Santana's previous album (released two and a half years earlier). It was firmly in the style of the 1980s, making much use of synthesizers and drum machines. Beyond Appearances performed relatively poorly, reaching only fifty on the Billboard album chart; one of its tracks, &Say It Again&, reached number 46 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart (though it performed better on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, reaching number 15).
