Davidge’s past successes have included writing and producing for the critically acclaimed UK group Massive Attack. Other examples have seen Davidge co-produce and collaborate in the film and gaming world, by providing music for titles such as Clash of the Titans and most recently composed the music for the immensely popular video game Halo 4.
The impressive portfolio of Neil Davidge shows there will be a number of excited anticipators ready to listen to an album which feels the full force of Davidge’s stamp and proves his obvious talent.
‘Slo Light ’ is an album that demonstrates the sounds of Bristol beats, electronica, orchestral music and more. It brings darkness and beauty into one where the listener is taken through an almost fantasy world, with the mesmerising sounds created by Davidge. The album features artists including Sandie Shaw, Cate Le Bon, Karima Francis and others.
The title-track ‘Slo Light’ features vocals from New York singer Stephonik Youth and has very similar traits to Massive Attack’s latter work, which of course Davidge co-wrote and produced. You can make comparisons between the two throughout the whole album.
‘Riot Pictures’ includes 60’s singer Sandie Shaw and places her voice in unfamiliar surroundings, playing her voice over a sub bass growl and a theme almost replicating the music heard on James Bond.
‘Slo Light’ will be available from the 3rd March and is definitely worth a listen. Not just for those who are Massive Attack fans, this album will also appeal to those who appreciate the work of sound-exploring artists/producers. If you want to be taken on a musical journey, ‘Slo Light’ is the one for you.
