This album features Mapfumo's signature chimurenga sound (heavily mbira-influenced guitar lines with added drum sets, etc). One of the nicest things about chimurenga is, simply enough, that it's African guitar work that isn't soukous (soukous is great, but something different is certainly welcome from time to time). Fans of Mapfumo will likely already have picked up this album, though they should certainly consider it if they haven't yet. Newcomers to his sound will find the album a worthy starting point as well. For a nice glimpse into the sound of chimurenga, this is a good album. For other guitar work from Africa, soukous is readily available.
