On May 5th, garage rocker Mikal Cronin is set to return with his new album, MCIII, via Merge Records. The 11-track effort follows 2013’s excellent MCII and serves as his third full-length to date. That’s the artwork above.
Cronin, himself a frequent Ty Segall collaborator, reportedly played every single instrument on the LP and even arranged music for a string quartet. According to a press release, the album is “a deliberate attempt to simply ‘go big.'”
In anticipation, Cronin’s let loose a new song called “Made My Mind Up”. A life-affirming power pop number, it’s packed with spirited guitar solos and jaunty piano.
