by Stewart MasonThroughout all of Tiny Tim's career, there was a sense of \"They're not laughing with you, they're laughing at you,\" nowhere more so than on this live album recorded in Chicago a couple of years before his death with local power pop group the New Duncan Imperials backing him. Unlike the conceptually similar album, Girl, that he did with Brave Combo in the early '90s, there's an unavoidable sense of, \"Hey, lookit the freak!\" here, although that probably wasn't the band or promoter's intent. Certainly the only reason for Tiny Tim to tackle such obviously inappropriate songs as AC/DC's \"Highway to Hell\" or Jerry Lee Lewis' \"Great Balls of Fire\" is the incongruity inherent, but the overall effect is like seeing one's elderly uncle attempt to liven up a family reunion by dancing a hula while wearing a lampshade on his head. The only possible response is a rather stunned, embarrassed silence.
