Country singer Jerry Jeff Walker's Christmas Gonzo Style is his attempt to meld his laid-back style of country to Christmas music. At times he is very successful, making songs like &Santa Claus Is Coming to Town& come across as cool, smooth country tracks. But other times he just falls flat, if only because he strays too far from his own sound. In these spots he sounds like a bar singer trying his hand at a few Christmas songs, not the talented guitarist/singer that he is. This album is an unfortunate misstep, and only recommended for Walker fans who need to complete their collection.
