Eddy Arnold gives listeners that old time religion on Praise Him, Praise Him, a tribute to the blind songstress Fanny Crosby, composer of over 9,000 hymns in the 1800s and early 1900s. &Blessed Assurance& is one of her most famous hymns, and it is here with 11 other sacred songs like &Though Your Sins Be as Scarlet& and &He Hideth My Soul.& While country gospel may hold some appeal for fans of secular country music, Praise Him, Praise Him is not a country gospel album at all -- it contains old-fashioned church music that Arnold performs with an organ, piano, and choir. The stately arrangements and reverent performances are very good, but unless you are an avid churchgoer or collector of hymns, Praise Him, Praise Him will be a challenging proposition.
