Tyrone Davis surprised many observers when the title cut smashed the embargo non-Southern urban contemporary stations had on soul music and soared into the Top 10, peaking at number six. The rest of the album was a bit slick by past Davis' standards, but even the sappiest numbers were performed with Davis' customary grit and soulfulness.
