All of the music on this 1997 CD was previously unreleased. Eight of the nine selections date from 1973 and match the great soul-jazz tenor Houston Person with a Latin-oriented band that also includes trumpeter Victor Paz, Hank Jones (on electric piano), guitarist Jimmy Ponder, bassist Andy Gonzalez, an unidentified drummer, percussionist Jerry Gonzalez and Nicky Marrero on timbales. Although there are dated aspects to the music, Person fares well. The other selection is from 1971, a funky number with a medium-size group that includes organist Ernie Hayes. Overall, a worthwhile set, if not essential.
