Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle have been kicking out the jams as Slam for over a decade, either as the driving force behind the accomplished Soma label or through working the turntables at a swath of venues, their five-hour Saturday night sets as part of their quarterly residency at London's Fabric superclub securing their place within the club's mix series. The result is an intensive workout that takes few prisoners, catching only an occasional breath before marching onward with only a relentless low-end shudder and thumping percussive backbone for company. The escalating synth sweeps of Ladytron's &Seventeen& offer some variation on chattering tech-house, but this is a mix intended to reflect the dancefloor duties of its orchestrators, a job it does dutifully and with commendable vigor.
